As a child, Michael would go into his grandfathers shop and pound nails into boards for fun. His family had a horse farm and grape vineyards, so they were always fixing and repairing stalls, fences, dog houses, chicken coups, etc. Michael would occasionally clean up job sites for a local builder. While in school, he spent a summer helping a local builder to build his grandparents new home, mostly as a laborer. After school, he got married, had children, and worked in a factory as a machinist, all while going to school for mechanical engineering. He quickly realized that he didn't enjoy being in a factory sitting behind a desk. He needed to be outside. So he went to work for a variety of area builders & remodelers working as a carpenter, framing and finish, and a roofer.
In 2000, Michael took a job with Bert R Witte, Inc. out of Amherst, as a project manager, estimator, and draftsman. Specializing in commercial and custom luxury home building & remodeling, he studied under Mr. Witte, learning everything about running a company and architecture. He worked at notable places like Oberlin College & Cedar Point. Projects included The Millenium Force, MaxAir, remodeling and building numerous game booths, and hotels. He was also the carpenter contractor for Castaway Bay Waterpark.
Michael enrolled back into college yet again, and took up architectural design. He graduated with a degree in construction management with a minor in architectural design. Before starting his own company, Erie Shores Contracting, he was working as a framing and finish carpenter for OCP Contractors, one of the biggest carpenter contractors in Ohio. He is also a certified home inspector, graduating from the American Home Inspectors Training Center.
